This is largely the Gimme Delicious recipe, but obviously with adjustments to better fit my family's tastes. Try this out, try out the original, do as you feel led - there are very few wrong ways to get your chocolate fix!
Easy Brownies
(9 servings*)
Ingredients
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of melted butter
1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
2 teaspoons of orange blossom water
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Cinnamon (to taste)
2 eggs
1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt**
1/4 cup of crushed pecans (optional)
*Solely because I divide my finished brownies into nine pieces. One could easily have a single serving, fifty servings, et cetera. You do you!
**If using unsalted butter.
Directions
1) Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) and grease a 20cm by 20cm (8in by 8in) baking dish.
2) Add the sugar, melted butter, cocoa powder, oil, orange blossom water, vanilla, and cinnamon to a mixing bowl and whisk vigorously until the sugar is dissolved (a minute or two at least).
3) Whisk in the eggs one at a time until well stirred in and the batter becomes glossy and beautiful.
4) Gently stir the flour and salt into the batter until just combined. (Try not to over mix!)
5) Spread about half of the batter over the bottom of your dish, sprinkle with the crushed pecan pieces (if using), and then spoon the remaining batter over the top. (I like all the pieces to be in the middle of the brownies, so I try to make sure none of the pecan pieces are visible. One could also just fold them into the batter before putting it in the baking dish.)
6) Bake for 20 to 30 minutes - if you want them to be semi-liquid, then go closer to 20 minutes. We usually serve them more well done, but whatever floats your boat! Once out of the oven let the brownies cool completely before cutting and serving. Enjoy!
